How Is Tencel Fabric Made?
The production of Tencel is a testament to nature’s grace and the artistry of human intelligence.
Tencel fabric is produced from sustainably sourced wood pulp, primarily from eucalyptus, beech, and spruce trees. The pulp is dissolved in a non-toxic solvent through a closed-loop process, where nearly all the solvent is recuperated and reused. This pulp solution is then extruded through fine holes to form fibers. At last, these fibers are spun into threads and woven into fabric.
On average, it may take about 7 to 25 days.
We work with reliable shipping services like FedEx, DHL, UPS, and more. Typically, it takes about 3 to 8 working days.
Tencel is a brand name for a type of lyocell rayon fabric. So to be precise, it should be called Tencel lyocell. Generally, all the products labeled “Tencel” or “Tencel lyocell” contain Tencel fibers.
Lyocell is one type of rayon made from wood pulp employing the solvent spinning technology. Tencel, as mentioned above is precisely one type of lyocell. But now, people use the term “Tencel” to make a general reference to lyocell fabrics.
Modal is another type of rayon, typically made from beechwood pulp. It’s known for being very soft, flexible, and less prone to shrinkage than other types of rayon.
It’s not recommended to use fabric softener on Tencel fabrics. Fabric softeners can coat the fibers tightly, reducing their moisture-wicking properties and breathability. Additionally, fabric softeners can leave residues that may damage Tencel fibers, diminishing the softness and gloss.
